Educating and providing mentorship for youth has always been the cornerstone of Redtail. We teach them how to use all their senses to observe nature, how to read nature signs, how to form a relationship with wild plants and animals, how to create a special place in nature, how to celebrate the seasons and much more. Many youth return to camp year after year, finding in Redtail a place to call their own. As the younger ones come along those that have grown pay a visit to touch base or lend a hand. It is all part of the atmosphere at Redtail.

The warm days of summer allow us to live closer to the Earth than any other time of year. Redtail’s popular summer youth camps provide 5 and 6 day camps for youth ages 8 to 19. All camps are based out of our summer location next to the hemlock grove. Daily activities at the youth camp include swimming in upland streams, hiking, animal tracking, shelter making, bow/drill fire making, nature games, night walks, imagery exercises, talking circles, music, art, journal writing, and more. On the final night of each camp, youth will have an opportunity to participate in a traditional sauna. Billy leads all summer camps and welcomes all new campers as well as those who want to experience more of what Redtail has to offer.

Please be sure to register early as spaces will be especially limited. Other opportunities for youth may be offered in the spring and fall.

Arrival time for all summer camps is between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM and pick-up is between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM on the final day.
