Programs for adults are offered in all seasons except high summer (July and August are reserved for summer youth camps). Each event is organized around a particular theme, but all are meant to enhance one’s sense of Earth consciousness and to restore a sense of right relations between one’s self and the Earth. We endeavour to keep our adult retreats non-demanding so that participants are able to ‘tune out’ from the demand of everyday life and ‘tune in’ to the natural surroundings.

Please note that simple meals are generally provided for overnight events unless otherwise stated. If you have a special dietary need bring it with you.

Owl Prowl:
Experiencing Forest Sounds at Night

The forest is a mysterious place at night. Animals that are usually silent and still during the day, become more active and vocal. This is especially true in Spring when mating activities intensify the dynamics in the forest. Join Billy MacDonald at the Winter Camp at 6:30 p.m. for an educational and exhilarating night walk into the forest in search of owl calls and other things that go bump in the night. Billy will provide some basic understanding about forest activity before taking the group on a silent tour of forested areas. The night will finish with a debriefing back at the camp over a cup of hot apple cider. Participant will need warm clothes, proper footwear and possibly showshoes if there is still snow in the woods.
Saturday, April 3 from 6:30 to 11:00 PM
Fundraiser for Friends of Redtail, donations welcome

The Spirit of the Drum:
Making and Empowering Your Own Drum

The drum beat, an ancient sound with a universal appeal. The drum is a spiritual instrument for connecting us with the greater reality. The making of a drum should be a spiritual event. This workshop will walk you through the process of constructing a drum while working spiritually with the material and with the power of the drum itself. Please register early for this event as the materials will need to be prepared.
Friday, May 21 at 7:00 PM
Sunday, May 23 at 4:00 PM
Registration Fee: $150
Drum Materials: $150(note: the skins are all naturally prepared by hand here at Redtail – no chemical processing)

Summer Solstice
This women’s event invites participants to enter the magic and mystery of mid summers eve. We will gather in the afternoon for some attune with the spirit of the Solstice through creative expression. Then we will welcome the turning of the wheel with an evening sauna followed by a campfire and solstice revelry. As our ancestors did, we will scry (read) the solstice fire for information and guidance. The veil between the seen and unseen worlds is considered to be thinnest at these sacred crossings so it an excellent time for receiving spiritual information. The next morning we will celebrate the first day of summer with a blessing ceremony and a rejuvenating dip in the beautiful swimming hole.
(Please bring a simple snack to share, attire for the sauna and a drum or rattle if you have one. A simple supper and breakfast will be provided.)
Sunday, June 20th at 3:00 PM
until Monday, June 21st at noon

Registration Fee: $90

As winter sets in, look for day programs by Billy on tracking predators such as bobcat, coyote and fisher. Snow cover provides ideal conditions for reading animal signs so these programs will be scheduled around weather conditions.
