Programs for adults are offered in all seasons except high summer (July and August are reserved for summer youth camps). Each event is organized around a particular theme, but all are meant to enhance one’s sense of Earth consciousness and to restore a sense of right relations between one’s self and the Earth.

Owl Prowl:
Experiencing Forest Sounds at Night

The forest is a mysterious place at night. Animals that are usually silent and still during the day, become more active and vocal. This is especially true in Spring when mating activities intensify the dynamics in the forest. Join Billy MacDonald at the Winter Camp at 6:30 p.m. for an educational and exhilarating night walk into the forest in search of owl calls and other things that go bump in the night. Billy will provide some basic understanding about forest activity before taking the group on a silent tour of forested areas. The night will finish with a debriefing back at the camp over a cup of hot apple cider. Participant will need warm clothes, proper footwear and possibly showshoes if there is still snow in the woods.
Saturday, April 2 from 6:30 to 11:00 PM

Living with Animal Predators:
Challenging Our Fears and Assumptions

The recent media coverage of coyote behaviour has caused many people to re-think their relationship with animal predators. Many have responded with fear and violence toward the coyote. This day long experiential workshop focuses on education with an emphasis on understanding predatory behaviour and developing a respectful relationship toward wildlife. After an afternoon of tracking, education and discussion, participants will be taken into the woods at dark to experience the natural sounds and movement of forest dwellers. The night sit, a long tradition at Redtail, will help participants challenge their fear of predators and give then a taste of forest magic.
Two Saturdays to pick from: September 24th or October 1st, 1:30 to 10:00 PM
Registration Fee: $35 (please bring your own food for supper hour)

Solo Sit
The solo quest is as old as time; the call to go alone into the wilderness in search of deeper meaning and purpose. Here at Redtail we call it a ‘solo sit’ to refer to the universality of this practice rather then the specific cultural practices of many Native American tribes. Although we no longer offer the solo sit as a set program Billy is approached several times a year by people who know it is their time to do the sit. If you are being called, you can make special arrangements with Billy to supervision your sit.

The Spirit of the Drum:
Making and Empowering Your Own Drum
June 25th and 26th

The steady beating of the hoop drum is a primal sound that appeals to us all. It is the heart beat of the mother, the first sound we every heard. Even wild animals respond to the sound of the drum. The hoop drum is a sacred instrument for connecting us to the great hoop of life. Thus, the making of such an instrument should be approached with reverence and understanding.
Over the period of two day we will explore the meaning and power of the hoop drum and work spiritually with the materials, while being guided through the process of creating our own drums. As time allows, we will also decorate and paint our drums and end with a ceremony to spiritually awaken them.
Registration Fee: $300 all material included
(Note: Nova cleans and stretches the hides herself using natural processes.)

Life Between Lives
Exploring the Landscape of the Eternal
June 9th to 12th

Do you experience a ' knowing' that you existed before you came here? Do you sometimes long to go 'home' even though you cannot define where 'home' is? Have you sensed a deep familiarity with someone you have just met? These common experiences may be stirrings of the eternal soul. Although our lives as incarnate beings are finite, our souls are eternal. Between lifetimes our souls inhabit a domain of immense intelligence which has a structure and order quite unlike our earthly domain. This four day residential workshop will focus of the soul's experience between incarnations. Through the shamanic technique of 'soul flight' we will experience the nature of our eternal soul, explore the landscape of the eternal dimension, meet our soul family and elder souls who act as your advisors, and delve into many other aspects of the soul's journey between lifetimes.
The workshop will take place over four full days and three nights. Participants should have some prior experience with the shamanic journey. If you have doubt about your preparedness for the workshop, please call Nova to discuss.
Registration Fee: $475, meals and lodging included. Spaces are limited.
